Elizabeth Stephens
ARTIST BIO

Born and raised in Alabama, Elizabeth Stephens is an artist that can predict when the next erratic southern storm will hit, but not what she will paint next. As an active part of the Catholic community in Alabama since childhood, her faith is integrated into her creative process; it has influenced her work both stylistically and conceptually. In her work, Elizabeth explores the intriguing relationship between beauty and vulnerability and how it is tied into the human experience.
As a BFA candidate at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), Elizabeth has enjoyed showing in a variety of student exhibitions including the 2022 UAB Juried Student Annual at Abroms-Engel Institute for the Visual Arts curated by William Downs. Along with this, she has been featured in the publication Aura both in 2021 and 2022.
In 2022, Elizabeth worked at Gallery VOX with local artist, Michael Swann, to learn his trade, pinstriping. In addition, she received unique experience with the inner workings of running a selective gallery. The knowledge she acquired here and elsewhere is crucial to her showcasing a specific viewpoint to a varying audience; Elizabeth’s aim for her art is to connect anyone over her view of a universal concept.
